Where mindfulness and mental health are concerned, the importance of using a planner and organiser cannot be overstated! With both these tools in your arsenal, you'll be able to plan your days ahead, thus leaving little room for the subconscious mind to panic when additional tasks are thrown into the mix; after all, your personal little list of things to do can easily be organised to favour priority. Purveyor of high-quality stationery products Summorie's inventory includes everything you could ever want or need to get into a good headspace in your subconscious mind. Want a planner or an organiser? They've got you covered!

Tips For Planning Ahead:

  • Make sure you have an organised list of things you would like to accomplish throughout the week, and then separate smaller lists for your day-to-day activities.
  • Be realistic with setting your goals. Over-promising and pushing yourself too hard can sometimes have the opposite effect, and cause you to burn out in the long run.
  • Make it pretty! If you have fun planning your day and making your journal a gorgeous scrapbook page, you'll most certainly have fun flipping through it to remind yourself of what needs to be done throughout the week ahead!

"My favourite way is probably the easiest, and something everyone can do - breath work." On sharing the benefits of breathing exercises for anxiety, Dora shares that there are many forms of breath work available online, as well as video tutorials for learning on YouTube. "Find one that works for your time and preference. Personally, I do a five minute version of the Wim Hof method, which helps me to zone out and calm down."

She also surrounds herself in products like crystals, candles, essential oils, a good book, and some music. "Anything related to what you love can help you to unwind." Dora also finds herself engaging in the mindfulness exercise of gratittude, and in being grateful for the little things in our lives right now."

Q: What is your top tip for taking care of your mental health?
A: Set aside some time each day for yourself. The common things to do to reconnect with yourself are guided meditation, visualisation, and journaling, but I feel it can be anything you like - singing, dancing, reading, arts and crafts, exercising, et cetera. Basically, anything that would make you feel good.

Rytual.co

A popular forerunner in mental health tips is the art and act of meditation. Get yourself into the mood for guided meditation with Rytual.co's assortment of hand-crafted incense sticks! With scents like myrrh, frankincense, Egyptian musk, rose, and French vanilla and more, you'll find your subconscious mind easily lulled into a sense of calm and ease. Embark upon your mindfulness exercises by first smudging your personal sacred space, clearing the energy - as well as your mind! You, too, can create a ritual of your own.

Joanne of Rytual shares that she struggles with taking care of her mental health, but has learned that it is important to just say no at times. "At times, you just have to say no and prioritise time for yourself. Always take time for yourself and do whatever makes you happy, and gives you peace of mind."

Q: What does mindfulness mean to you, personally?
A: Mindfulness in short to me is the ability to be fully present. I think mindfulness is a quality that everyone already possesses. It's not something to conjure up; you just have to learn how to access it.

Her Rytual in unwinding (pun intended!) includes relaxing with a glass of wine, a nice home-cooked meal, and her favourite incense burning in the background - among which are popular options like Egyptian Musk, Myrrh, and Frankincense. Joanne recommends the last for soothing heightened nerves, and for quieting the mind to ease one's descent into sleep. "Our newest product, Palo Santo Incense Cones, works great for unwinding after a long, stressful day too!"

MOSS

Breathing exercises for anxiety are made easy whether done at your desk, or upon one of these snazzy, jazzy yoga mats from MOSS. The perfect addition to your daily mindfulness exercise routine, the simple act of going through your favourite yoga poses can help to ease a troubled, weary mine - all the while keeping your core strong and supple!

Breathe Right

  • Shallow breathing actually contributes to anxiety, so when you're feeling a little stressed out, take a moment to inhale long and deep - then hold - then release. A common method for breathing includes inhaling over a period of 4 seconds, then holding for the next 4, and then exhaling for the next 4 to follow. The length of your breathing can be adjusted to suit your personal tastes and needs.
  • Learn to Belly Breathe! One of the most popular breathing exercises for anxiety is belly breathing. To do this, place one hand on your chest, and the other on your belly just below your ribcage. Relax your body. Breathe in deeply. Your belly should expand and contract with your breaths, while the hand on your chest should move minimally.

Ready to Rock

With a vast and wide array of gem-essence room sprays and energetically vibrant gemstones to accompany your mindfulness exercises and guided meditation, Ready to Rock is run by certified aromatherapist and gem keeper Ben Wong. The brand's products are specially curated to suit all manner of emotional and energetic ailments, aimed at boosting the spirits and mood whilst enhancing clarity whilst you perform your breathing exercises for anxiety.

Ben from Ready To Rock encourages us to be mindful of our to-do lists. "Often times, we tend to take on too many tasks in both our personal and work life. Understandably, it can get a little tricky to turn down work related commitments, but do try to be mindful of your limit and to not overexert yourself unnecessarily. I am often guilty of a "I might as well do it now, it's just a small thing", but many of these "small things" can easily morph into a gigantic pile of silent stressors."

Like Joanne, Ben believes that mindfulness is a conscious choice. He shares that it's important to play life as a long game. "There will always be things that swoop in to affect our pace, but when we can visualise our desired outcome, we can finish the race in a less frazzled state of mind. Celebrate the small wins! Setbacks are a chance to try things again from a different point of view."

Q: How do you personally unwind after a long day, week, month, or year?
A: I dance in my living room when no one is watching! (And the occasional work out). I find that movement helps to clear my mind and helps me to 'shake away' any stagnant or 'icky' energy. For those days that feel a little less active, I'll light up some incense, turn on my diffuser or mist my space with aromas that are great for soothing the mind and inviting peace, calm, and joy. Walks in nature and zoning out watching the ocean waves always have a special space in my heart (but for now, visualising it will do!).

Medusa Necklace, Necklace with charm from Feithe - mental health tips, guided meditation, subconscious mind, mindfulness exercises, breathing exercise, breathing exercises for anxiety, planner, organiser Feithe.jpg?1631590062427

Feithe

Jewellery guided by intention fills the catalogue of Feithe - the perfect companions for a day out in the sun, or even for sitting at home in guided meditation. The brand's gold-filled jewellery options ensure they possess longevity as befitting your favourite accessory pieces, and are each made up of crystal beads that carry good intentions, energetic vibrations, and good vibes to promote mindfulness as well as the subconscious mind.
Sharon of Feithe shares her top tip for taking care of her mental health - to always have self care days. "As a brand owner, I always work beyond working hours, so I will blank out two days weekly to spend time with my family, and most importantly, spend time with myself to make sure I get charged in order to work better."

Q: Tell us about some products that can help one to unwind.
A: I always work with crystals to set intentions and to meditate, to remind myself where I'm heading, what I should let go of, and to focus on the now. My current favourite product is the Ruby Charm with the Lenna chain and the Mabel Abundance bracelet. Both work wonders for me as my day to day jewellery!

To Sharon, mindfulness entails feeling, sensing, and living every present moment with intention. "I often chased after the future when I was young," She shares. "And that often made me anxious. Now I am learning to live more mindfully to keep my mental health in check."
